Providence's Largest Expansion Project in Over 100 Years
This ambitious and innovative 12-story medical tower adds 368 beds to the existing Colby Campus, featuring light-filled patient rooms and family-focused care.

The full project scope included the new 710,000 SF tower, renovation work within existing facilities, a 1,000-care parking garage and a connecting sky bridge to the hospital's regional cancer center. The entire first floor of the new tower houses a modernized emergency center with 79 private treatment rooms, four trauma rooms, and CT and diagnostic radiology services. There are two floors dedicated to surgical suites, with 700-SF operating rooms. Two floors of the tower contain an intensive care unit, a cardiac surgery single-stay unit and six kidney dialysis stations. The renovation portion of this project occurred while the facilities were occupied, requiring infection control and disruption avoidance procedures.
