VECA Acquires Rohwein Electric
VECA Electric, one of the region’s largest electrical contracting firms, announced that it has acquired Bremerton-based electrical contracting firm Rohwein Electric. With the deal, VECA added the entire team from Rohwein, creating VECA’s new division, Rohwein Electric. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

“Adding Rohwein Electric to our team will allow VECA to expand our electrical, communications, and wireless services on a broad range of industrial, commercial, and military projects in Kitsap County,” said VECA CEO Tom Fairbanks. “We are pleased to partner with a firm that shares VECA’s values and commitment to providing quality services to customers.”

Founded in 1972, Rohwein has broad expertise in the government, commercial, and industrial sectors, particularly new construction, remodel, and maintenance work related to military system upgrades. Clients VECA will pick up as a result of the deal include Fort Lewis, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Keyport and Bangor Sub Base, Naval Ammunition Depot Indian Island, Harrison Medical Center, City of Bremerton and Whidbey Island Naval Air Station. VECA will maintain the location of Rohwein Electric’s Bremerton office.

“Rohwein is a recognized leader for providing superior electrical services in Kitsap County. This partnership provides an opportunity to continue Rohwein’s growth in the Kitsap Peninsula and beyond,” said VECA President Brian Westerlund.

In making the acquisition, VECA will bring on board Rohwein Project Manager Jodee Strickland and Rohwein’s 12 technical and office professionals. In addition, VECA has hired Shaun Hall as a Project Manager to join the Rohwein Electric Bremerton office.

“With support from VECA’s electrical office including CADD, engineering, and estimating, the Rohwein Electric division will be able to bid much larger projects,” said VECA Senior Project Manager Tony Penna, who will manage the Rohwein Electric division. VECA was awarded its first job on the Kitsap Peninsula, a medical office building, this week.

“VECA has been able to capture our fair share of the market in the last few years. If you position yourself properly, there are good opportunities even in a downturn economy,” said Westerlund.

Founded in 1946, VECA Electric’s offices are located in Seattle, Bellingham, and Bremerton. For more information visit www.rohwein-veca.com.

Press Release

Community Service in Whatcom County
We believe that the VECA Electric Core Values of Appreciation and Abundance are one of the keys to our success and we believe that it is our duty and privilege to live our values by being directly involved in community service activities in our community.

Recently, VECA Electric of Bellingham established a relationship with Habitat for Humanity.  Our first project with Habitat was a low income duplex in Sumas, a project in which all our crew members contributed time and effort. Working with local vendors, VECA provided the labor and material for the electrical and communication installation in this Habitat for Humanity project. We look forward to meeting the two deserving families after they move into their American dream.

Additionally, VECA Electric of Bellingham is working with the non-profit, community based Pickford Theater organization to design and build a new theater facility. VECA entered this project at a reduced fee to help the project get off the ground. Creating a state-of-the-art theater in a turn-of-the-century building has evolved into a project that can only be viewed as a “labor of love”.

These “labors of love” are tangible examples reflecting the good heart, integrity, dedication and hard work of VECA’s great leadership and employees. Giving back to the community in which we live is a responsibility  the VECA Electric employees from our Bellingham office have embraced with humility and appreciation.
